Many glues have a curing agent that has benzene or something like that in it which allows it to cure quickly. It normally evaporates when exposed to air but if it is covered up it'll not evaporate but eat the foam. Think this could have happened?
Painting my new SU34
Hobbyking foam reinforced with drywall tape and glue and ModPodge
Masked out underneath painted the top --mint
Take masking tape off and reapply more so I can paint the engine pods
FOAM STARTS MELTING
In my panic watching my beautiful engine pods melt I grabbed the drywall tape and slapped it on the melting foam
It stopped melting and loosing structural integrity--- hey I'll take a win anyway I can get it
Slapped the glue over the drywall and smoothed
All craters gone ,melting stopped
NOW HOW DID THIS HAPPEN??
Well Modpodge pulls off foam with masking tape adhesive
Who knew ???
The drywall glue fibreglass stops melting foam
If you guys out there already know this
If not its my gift to the world
