Not yet.  Being a member of the BMFA I don't have to register until January and it'll be done as part of the main subs for the year. Handily holding an A certificate I also don't need to take their test too 🙂

Doubt there's a lot of people who will have registered anyway as it's not really been put forward in the media very much so there won't be much awareness.  To be fair the people they are trying to target and get money out of will have already have something in place like being a BMFA member anyway.  The ones they really need to target are the ones planning nefarious deeds but that just won't happen so essentially we're registering to make policing easier as it grants more legal power to the police in the case of dealing with an unregistered operator.

I know lots of people have issues with the registration of it but it's something that is happening globally and thankfully the BMFA and associated organisations here have done a great job in making it relatively painless for the most part for most club flyers.
Whoever said nothing is impossible had obviously never tried slamming a revolving door...

Well I sure hope they'll finally learn from that that restricting EVERYONE's flying doesn't stop idiots from doing their illegal sh!t! But I guess hoping for some of that insane gibberish to be taken back is like hoping to survive in space without a space suit.

Hi Sterling ... nice to see a balanced post about it ... you should see the crap posted on Drone Forums !!

When I was SMAE rep - years ago - we discussed putting leaflets in the Hobby Shops ... maybe trying to get into the kit boxes ... but of course it never happened. In those days of course - we didn't have todays electrics or foamie models - so most people joined a club to learn how to fly. Today though - its a different game altogether.

The idea was put to our group in Latvia couple of years back .. LARPAS .. and leaflets were produced ... the difficulty was how to distribute - as todays models are in Toy Shops ... Supermarkets ... eBay ... too wide a field to succeed. The only people who actually took it up - was DJI service here in Riga ...

The BMFA Certificate Scheme is very good - but that itself is not as wide as it could be ... with so many not joining clubs now. Of course if you want to fly in a show / display with BMFA involvement or FIA ... then you need the ticket to show you can fly well enough !!

Todays models ? With SAFE  / Gyro Stabs etc.???? So many buying models and going to the parks ...
I'll fly anything if I can launch it ! Youtube : solentlifeuk
