Wing?

Flat plate 6mm depron.

Two identical fullspan tapered 6mm depron spars laminated to be single 12mm spar with 2mm CF rod embedded in.

Spar glued to the flat plate.

Engine nacelles cut and built ... glued to the flat plate.

3mm depron sheet creased and glued as the top skin.

There was no real CAD or drafting done ...most was based on what appeared to be right by eye.

Just sorting out how to mount SS3 tag for video recording. And wait weather of course.

The 8x4.5 props ..... 3S 1800 = 18.5A ...... WOW !! Pulls vertical ... on 2S 3000 = 11A and decent pull and of course nice long flight time.

Now if you put the ESCs and the rx in the wing you would have only 3 connections (battery, elevator and rudder servos) to make putting on the wing. ðŸ˜

I have ESC's in wing with Y lead. I can connect 1 or 2 lipo's
Rx is in fuselage as it has the A3 Super II gyro as well.
I have also cargo door.

She Flies !! but 2S needs bigger props ...

Now fitted 9x4.5x3 .....if that is not enough .... then back to the 8's and put 3S

Nice 🙂 . On 3S you could probably run those 9" props 😉 .

Yes ... true. What I am really pleased about :

I am using tiny Multi Rotor ESC's .... 1/4 the size of normal from Banggood ....

Work a treat and tiny !!

She flies again ... just need to think how to power a little better .... either more pitch props to stay on 2S .... or prop down and shove in a 3S ?

Flaps are very effective .... even though small ...

Very pleased .. the folded wing concept shown by FRC is the real gem.

I really enjoyed the vid. The Soloshot has captured a good reel of footage - just like you say, is only good for this slow predictable flying. I certainly don't want to pay that price for one!

The plane flies a beaut. I would probably aim for more power than a change of prop. I can see the tail droopping in the banks and with all my planes, it's usually the other way around, so I'm guessing there's some sort of high-alpha - the plane needs to pitch up to compensate for low airspeed - situation going on.
BRB - Building another nosecone.

I can put 3S in there ... but would have to prop down a bit I think ...

I am not using the flaps - which I found when I started to deply were super effective.

I would go 3S, switch out the esc's to 35 or 40A and run the same props or even up them to 9X6 twin blade .

To swap ESC's would mean cutting into the wing which I am reluctant to do. I definitely don't need bigger props. On 3S - I'm confident that 8x5 would be more than enough.
She has 9x4.5 on the 2S and flies. Adding the extra RPM from the 3S and similar pitch ... she will have more speed, but I will need to drop the diameter a touch to bring the amp draw down as I cannot put too much battery up front ..
