Dan, the hd hero 2 is flipping amazing. you cant believe the quality of the video. Personally, i notice a huge quality difference between the gopro and countour. I think the gopro beats the contour by far. To me the head strap is great and you dont feel it much. Squishy is right, any action sports camera will have the fish eye affect. You can set the POV to medium or narrow which is up to you for experimentation.
Here is mine on my f1 hydro

Heres it with a crash into corn....without the case...

Here it is recording my blade mqx in my yard.

And then i have two video with the 120sr on my channel...

The first video is in 1080p medium FOV
The other two videos and the sr videos are shot in 720p, which is in wide FOV

BUT NOW with the hero 3, and there being 3 different varients, one being the same or less price as the hero 2, and the thinness and lightness over the hero 2, and the better video fps...and the better sound in the case...and the better lense that reduces the fisheye affect (if my memory is correct)

Love our GoPro, just big and heavy for a foamie sometimes.
Strong as heck. I mean way strong. Can take crashes for sure.

Dan, I stick it on my rc truck and take it off jumps...not always landing good... For me, its going to be awesome in winter because i can pile it with snow with no worries. I stick it on my controller and record my truck videos. If you do end up getting it, and if you get the hero 2, get the outdoor edition. It will have the mounts that will do what you want to do the best. Also it comes with this non waterproof back with holes in it which makes sound MUCH better.

Well..after doing a lot of searching...F1 convinced me to get a Contour HD...so with holiday gift cards in hand i ordered one..and a headband strap and a micro sd card...so hopefully this will solve my self-video'ing issues....i also have a Mercury Trainer on the way that is setup for a front mounted camera...so i'll stick a cam on there and see how it works for aerial video..still want a gopro for that..but no more $$ to spend..we'll see how this all works next spring...

The contour will mount up nicely on there, Dan. It is more streamlined than a gopro as well. And it's pretty darn light. The laser alignment would look cool on the front of the plane! Too bad it only stays on for 10 seconds or so.
