Yep absolutely... every one of our planes is designed to be able to fly elevons only. You'll be just fine.

Have you got the plans printed and instructions.
The info should be there, if not keep the weight ie, servos close to the CG.
If you are not going to use the ailerons don`t cut them out, if you do, lock them in place with a piece of popsicle stick to use with servo`s at a later date.
A good read thru the SU34 V5 thread will help you enormously with your own build.

I can`t remember if you were on of the guy`s having difficulty getting depron, but Hobby king do a building foam. It is cheaper than depron but in my opinion not as good. I have built planes with it and is ok.

Hey Bogey, I was thinking about trying some of the HK foam but unfortunately they are out of stock in the 5mm.

I really like MPF but it's way more expensive than the HK plus the shipping is outrageous because of the large box it comes in.

I'll keep checking HK to see if they get some in stock in the near future. I'm ready to start my Bimo FA-18. Although the posts I've been reading about it are scaring me. I do have a gyro receiver that I'll put in her to help keep her on track.
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.

I haven`t had a chance to try MPF as they don`t sell it in the UK so I can`t comment on it or compare with HK foam.
If you have a material that you like it may be worth carrying on using it. It is a shame US shipping is so expensive.
I would be tempted to find other builders in your area and make a bulk purchase and share the shipping costs. It may not be a realistic idea though.

Bogusbandit answered it perfectly... check the instructions for servo placement. Leave the ailerons uncut if you aren't using them or secure them if you already have. I'll sometimes use toothpicks and shove them in both sides to secure if I'm not using ailerons. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

After quite a long hiatus from flying, I'm proud to say I flew my SU34 V5 for the first time today. The flight went quite well and the airplane performed remarkably. I didn't have it trimmed properly and the takeoff was a bit shaky but after gaining some altitude I was able to trim her out and had a wonderful time with her. I know, no video, it didn't happen, . I'm going to take some video on my next outing with her, probably tomorrow. Just a great and beautiful plane from RCPowers!
