Hey im beached bro,
I'm traveling to Australia for a few months. I brought my RC parts so I could fly while here. I just got my US phone to work over here, kinda (pain in the butt, telstra sim droid 4). I'm still running around getting sorted (not a lot of time to research) and I was hoping someone could tell me how it works over here.

first im in Caloundra (sunshine coast)
I have stopped in a few stores and been unable to find presentation/dollartree foam board, or depron style foam board.
Maybe a foam glider conversion?

any in's or out's would be great.

Also to other travelers I packed everything in my checked in bag and put my batterys (lipo's) in my carry on bag. Going threw security I just put them in the box outside of the bag so they could see it clearly. Didn't get stopped or anything! (hope its the same on the way back )

Thanks
I've built the FliteTest nutball, delta and funbat but no luck keeping them in the air so I decided to go full RCP "The New Course". Fingers Crossed (started rc aug2012) Finally success, FT F22, RPC F35 & now funbat. -Thanks RCP!

Depron is quite expensive here in Down Under and unlike a lot of other countries it's almost impossible to find any other foam under 1/2 inch in hardware stores.

http://www.tradewarehouse.com.au/more/depron-foam.html

Being on the east coast this is about the cheapest place to buy Depron from (I'm from Victoria and the freight to all east-coast states is the same).

It's weird but craft stores seem to be the ones stocking the 5-6mm foam board in AU, some sell it cheap but others charge an arm and a leg. If they've been selling to the RC community they generally sell it a lot cheaper simply because they can move it in volume.

Best of luck, watch out for the wildlife!

so thats what an attack by dropbares looks like!
I got a hour to look around online today and it seems no one sells it... Looks like I best just use your link so I can get started.

Thanks again grey!

Hi mate!

Grey is on the money, Depron is hard to find here and if you buy from hobby stores expect to pay $26 a sheet

On-line in bulk is the best way, went halves with a mate recently and cost up around $85 each for 10 sheets.

Thanks guys I just place an order! Boy am I excited to get started. Also ordered some uhu, i've read good things about it but they don't carry it in the states. Also to save the effort of getting a glue gun and glue sticks.
Ya I even looked for foamboard here its $.50-1.00 a sheet in the states and the cheapest I could find it here was $13.00 a sheet for a brand called gator....? IDK thats quite a difference!
I'm just happy to get started so I can fly.

I am staying close to a beach here so im looking for some depron glider plans like slope soaring has anyone seen anything like that? I don't even know it exists.

Thanks again!

Not my sort of thing but I remember reading about that stuff and seeing some plans on RC Groups. Personally I just take my parkjets to the beach on the rare chances I have to visit one but I guess if you're there a lot more often then those other planes start looking like an inviting option .

I've been considering Scott's Ikon A5 next summer for the trips to the weir. It gets nice and quiet and the water often turns into glass when most of the ski boats come in for lunch...
