In reading many of the threads, there are an awful lot of crashes and loss of airplanes(corn fields,ground, etc) because pilots didn't react quickly and properly to the condition. So, let's try this and see if it worth while to pursue. I think you will begin to realize I have been caught in all of the situations.
For instance: (not paying attention) you fly into the sun, duh(crash due to be blinded), what should you have done.
Answer- you close one eye, go thru(not looking directly into the sun), and then open the closed eye.

Problem:
Going away from you in a crosswind, assuming all controls, till your ailerons lock up neutral and no further movement, your throttle is wide open and your have 1 sec till you hit the trees. (Yes, I have a variation of this later). Bam, more than one second of not automatically knowing what to do, your a statistic.

Describe how you land successfully and give reasons to accomplish it. Maybe Lukewarm will do a create a thread with proper(more than 1 sometimes) answer(s) to help future pilots.

When my plane is committed to going in a place to where I can not see it ( across the sun, behind a tree), I line it up on a survivable path, then maintain that path till I can see the plane again.

Whenever you are not sure what to do, cut the power and land. The plane will have far less damage at slower speeds. On windy days, a rudder could have made it turn. If you don't have a rudder, the wind is not as bad close to the ground.

If you loose orientation, turn and watch what it does. If the plane is coming toward you, it will turn the opposite way you told it to. If you panic and cant think it out, land.

What I was looking for, since flying straight and little time till you hit the trees,

--pull elevator up
--now make sure you are climbing vertical (again, you have no ailerons)
--pull throttle back
--now do stall turn,(some airplanes you have to quickly give burst of power to have airflow across rudder)(don't try hammerhead)
--on way down, use rudder/elevator(like on a trainer plane ) so you pull up and your level, using throttle/rudder/elevator make your landing.

What I am trying to stress, is learn some simple maneuvers, it can save your airplane and maybe a lot of cash.
So, learning a stall turn could save it. It really isn't a simple maneuver to accomplish, but anything close to it give you a tool to save planes.

Here is another variation of same problem.
Flying level (going from right to left) and your plane is off you left shoulder, your aileron gets deflected so its stuck in a continuous right turn. Assuming you can override and fly the plane using the 3 other controls, how do you land and not crash? (runway is in front of you)
If you make the initial wrong decision, your dead in the water.
Hint: you can't make any left turns, so get your popsicle stick airplane out and solve it.

Cut power and let it drop. If you do not see the airplane or it's going someplace you do not want it to go, do not try and recover or continue flying the airplane, if you are on the edge of control or edge of sight or even in the process of losing control. Cut that throttle!

This is not advice to save your airplane, this advice to safe people and objects beyond your LOS. Would you rather have a little dent in your airplane or deal with the repercussions of running it into a kiddy pool filled with 5 year old children?

I'm not assuming you fly is populated areas, I am assuming that even in the middle of nowhere there could be people or hazards you do not see.

I watched a 3D pilot lose sight of his airplane less than 50 feet from him, it went up over his head, above and behind a tree that was at his back, he forgot about the tree till it loomed in his way. He cut the throttle immediately and it still fell straight down into power lines, bouncing like a pinball, then crashed to the street in pieces, then got run over by the front wheels of a family in their mini van. This happened all within 50 feet of the pilot, right over his head and it can happen anywhere at anytime. When you lose sight or control, cut the throttle and just fall, it's still dangerous, but not as dangerous as a pilot giving it throttle and trying to recover.
