Hey! I just tried to build a hovercraft today and failed but thought you might be interested anyways.

here is what I did:

I have some kind of hobby material I used to make a plate to mount everything on. The air hose I made out of a garbage bag for garden garbage (you know, these rugged bags with 120l). As lift motor I used my china motor with a 6x4 prop ducted with 3mm depron. I planned on making the propulsion with my mjv3 motor but didn't even get that far. The problem I have is the air hose. It's too inflexible and not precise enough, letting air slip through at different points differently, not creating a nice even air cushion but something chaotic, making the hovercraft float in any direction randomly. Also, the load it could carry was drastically too low and had to be too close to the lift fan or it would not lift of at the back.
It was just an experiment so I'm not too sad it did not work out well but maybe you can get an idea or two from it or even tell me how to do it right.

forgot to mention I had a second layer of foam underneath the propeller to direct the airflow to the air hose, this did not really help out either. The problem is the less-then-perfect air hose.

Ahh.. I built one once... parkflyer equipment for the lift fan, 50A 70mm Edf at the rear.
The magic is in keeping them straight, I have actually drove one of the axon antigravs (in fact one of the owner's at a trade show) and it was far better, take a few cues.....

Here is what I found in my testing...

    • Use an EDF for lift, it gives higher pressure below and solves the rotation problem.
    • Big vertical...Big vertical.
    • Lose the skirt and don't completely lift off the ground, it really helps keep it from drifting around.
    • Build light.
    • Use Epp for durability.
    • The wedge shape will help stability at speed (Don't make me give my duckeron speech again )
