Ok a fellow co-worker and I were discussing the fold technics
being used on these planes, the question is ....
Is it ok to have the score on the inside with the smooth
Uncut foam on the outside, or does that throw off the
Dimentions of the plane to all the tabs and slots and anything
else...
Thanks Robert

I cut a V where the lines are for the score and fold and yes I have to tweak everything cuz almost nuthing lines up. so to answer ur question "YES" it throws off everthing... but the end results are awesome....

Cuz tooling around is just not my style of flying. Full stick and full travel control surfaces.

As soulsdream...
Thanks for the reply.... im guessing the difference
Is about the thickness of the foam..does that sound
Right.

yes almost exactly. when I build I usually have to cut 6mm off of the formers inside the noses of the planes. just takes some getting used to but I think its better for me since I use FFF not Depron nor MPF

One last question. ...
Does the FFF foam seem more flimsy than
Any of the other foams

Yes, it is a bit less stiff.

Ok...I was in a loews the other
Day and feeling up all the different
Foams....I did find the FFF on the floor
Under some shelving units and was about
To purchase the bundle, but it just seemed
Very flexible, the holes didn't bother me
what conserned me most was how much
Carbon will I need to add to stiffen things up.
But from the search I have been doing it seems
Just about any foam will do...

Have a look here on how to tweak the plans: http://www.rcpowers.com/community/threads/f-18-built-inside-out.15036/#post-170718

I use the Blue FFF. Ive heard of the green stuff with holes in it and thats stuff is crap for build planes. the Blue stuff is very simular to MPF but it has a onion skin on one side. I have learned to pre-plan when I build and make sure that the skin side is on the inside when possible...

Started my first FFF build last night. After spending several minutes peeling the skin off one fanfold panel last night, that sounds like a really good approach.

I will try - I just tend not to remember to stop and take pics while I'm building. It's going to be slow because my work area is a mess so I'm limited on build space right now. The FFF is definitely floppy without reinforcing, but there are enough guys having success with it that I'm going to go with it for my first build or two of each plane.

Grabber, I just got home from work and
UPS left a package from Graysons.
I has 5 sheets of Depron, and boy that is
Some nice foam, I can see why it all the rave
But it won't be my main building material mostly
Due to cost..... so I will start my real F-35 build
This time..

Airforce101, thanks for the thread link, I read all of
It and is very good info...time to stop my yacking
And get cutting
