I have to set my throttle range every time I plug a battery in. Is this normal?

It's just slightly annoying and wondering if this is par for the course (this is my first electric plane).

If I don't program the esc (HobbyKing brand), I don't get any throttle response below about 1/2 throttle.

You should just have to do it once.
Start with the tx on and the throttle trim at the bottom. Then move the throttle stick all the way up and plug the rx battery in. Wait for the esc to beep and do it's thing before moving the throttle back to zero. The esc should arm itself and be ready for flying. Keep in mind you should have the prop removed from the motor during this whole process in case the motor decides to spin up and cut you

Hmmmm, this is what I've done in the past, but the settings don't stick. I'll have another go at it tonight.

Ok, here is what I found:

Having the Tx turned on *BEFORE* plugging in the battery seems to do the trick.

Seems simple, but I hadn't seen this documented anywhere. Hopefully it helps somebody in the future.

You should always turn on your Tx before plugging the battery in. That is exactly why you were having the issue. The radio needs to tell the ESC what to do. And when you are done flying you should unplug the battery before you turn off the Tx.

help me!

after i'm reset hobbyking ESC to default setting, position the stick throttle be invert (top=motor stop and lower =full throttle) and i must setup throttle on transmitter to 'reverse' for make top=full throttle, bellow motor stops.
how to setting stick throttle (lower=motor stop and top=full throttle) with setup throttle on transmitter still 'normal'?
