I found the manual of the real plane manual with plans of this plane, after building two foamies that both flew first time, and watching every build video possible, I am crazy enough to want to make my own plane from scratch.

I know that a simple reduction of plans won't work, that I should enlarge stabilizer, control surfaces, and wing area.

I plan building a 56 " wingspan plane, 6mm Depron, with wood and fiberglass reinforcements where needed, and for first try KF2 wing (later folded Armin wing).

Equipped with :
- a Suppo 2217/7 1200kv Brushless Motor (Park 425 equivalent).
- 4 9 Gram Servo
- TURNIGY Plush 25amp Speed Controller
- Turnigy 2200mAh 3s 20C Lipo Pack
- Slow Fly 10x4.7 prop

What are the main errors I should avoid?

+-10% increase in tail surfaces. You want a healthy size rudder as they love ground looping. (not cartoon big, just healthy)

Where possible, plan your equipment install as far forward as possible as that short nose will want extra weight. Keeping the tail structure and material light will have a huge influence on the final weight needed in the nose.

Cubbies are wonderfull airies, and fly nicely but you want them light. My 1st one was a dog cos she was a chubby Cubby (I suppose weight applies to all types of airframes in rc size)

Thanks, I thought of increasing tail surfaces 1/3 compared to real size, and maintain a ratio of 1 to 3 between horizontal stabilizer and wing area.

To balance plane I thought of a sliding motor bank to adjust motor overhang, before fixing it, I will remember to try to keep tail light (servo positionning forward).

I wish you good luck in building the plane. I hope you are experienced enough to build your own plane still I would like to share my story with you.
I got into this hobby and I wanted to start with building my own rc plane. I worked for 3 months to build a plane but i could not make it perfectly. My friend suggested me to buy a RTF Plane before building your own. So I found http://www.nitrotek.co.uk/rc-planes/scale/super-cub-piper-pa-18-4ch-brushless-rc-planes-24ghz.html.It was really a nice experience to understand the working of a plane. Now I can easily start building my own soon with the experience gained.

Thanks for your interest, I will look at the plane you suggest.

But what I am interested in is the process of building the plane from real plans, first version will be crude (rectangular stabilizer instead of elliptic, etc.), to sort basics.

With the the foamies building techniques, I won't spend three months building my plane, it will take less than a week.

If it crashes, no cries, three days later new plane built with lessons learnt.

So trial and error, plus the fact that before beginning build I will submit my plan to experienced modellers (who have done the same for 3 meter wingspan planes in my RC club), I am fully convinced that my plane will fly in the end (I am a very stubborn man).

No I didn't go further than the plan, I bought a motor, a slow prop, and servos, that were used elsewhere.

I had the bad luck to be invited to a slope soaring meeting with the best local flyers, I was stunned by how they flew in a very strong wind in a marvellous site (my glider stood in my car, it was not the day to begin).

I was lost for airplanes, and had no other idea than to try it by myself.

A few days later I tried sloping myself, and had the bad luck not to crash my Phoenix 1600 on my first attempt, I was hooked.

I fly a motor glider at the club to socialize, but most of my flying is slope soaring with pure gliders.
