So a rear motor is not necessary on this model?
I think I will leave the VTOL`s to you and other`s more knowledgable
I need to learn a heck of a lot before I attempt one.

No.

It is wild. Roll in hover is differential thrust, both motors forward is pitch(so nose down to go forward) and 1 motor forward and the other aft is yaw. Throttle is throttle. Become regular motion (ex.--pitch is pull back to climb) in forward flight. So you have to learn, unlearn in modes.

Sounds very interesting. Try to get a couple of projects under your belt getting to understand the KK2 abilities before the pancake.

This is my latest using aero version which requires 3 axis control in hover, transition and forward flight. Handles the wind and even does acrobatics. Designer gives little info(I agree with him) and he says you should be able to do it yourself when you understand the board.

It has been said, "The life of a VTOL is short lived" and I will add it could do damage if it oscillates wildly in hover. They have 10 x 3.8 props. Notice one prop up, the other down. Motor mount is on metal gear servo. Blew out plastic gear when rotating.

Very nice, and if I am correct then that wing is from a Durafly Skymule.

Yep. This should give it some good lift in forward flight. Made it like a trainer and have a dihedrel to help stabilize it

Agreed, and the reason I knew that is because I have the Skymule.

@whatmovesyou: I saw the rotor riot video that was released today, think you may be able to help David Windestal too with all the testings you have done with similar setups... Pretty cool stuff:

You should write to him if you are interested...

If the professionals struggle????????

Solved that problem by going to a wing. His software is different than mine and already there are few others that solved that problem. It has to do with motion. If they are sharp enough, they should be able to solve it. I don't think someone will tell them.

I am looking forward to doing acrobatics (loops, rolls, stall turns, etc) and fly in winds. The aero version for the kk2 allows you to control and adjust the transition so it can hover easily eeven in gusty winds.

I`m looking forward to seeing the video`s
Even if it`s not fully acrobatic it should still be great fun to fly.

I crashed my Hcopter and totally wiped out all the motor mounts when it flipped on take off.
I have spent hours on this thing trying to get it tuned in so I am calling it a day with this quad.
It seemed like I stumbled from one problem to another with this project and I found it extremely frustrating.
I would like to thank and apologize to all the guy`s that have given me advice to try and bring this project to fruition, it seems you can`t teach this old dog new tricks.
Aerodynamics I understand but electronics and programming is definitely not a strong point with me.

Suggestion: Since you have a number of FC's, why don't you flash one to the aero version 1.5 and take a simple project like the pizza box to learn how to use the P and I settings.

He has set up the spread sheet showing all the settings and you can try it in level flightP2 and in vertical flight P1 as well as transition so you can hover.

How about this? He is THE MAN with the answers.

I did his "DOOR" without any rudders. Used the aero stuff to make it go for just a flat plate. Named it the UFO called the ugly flying object.

If you need advice, willing to help. Hate to see you stuck with the FC.

That is pretty amazing The only problem is the wind, in this video the trees were barely moving and he was having a problem with stability. I would consider this a calm day in the UK.
This project would be great in a large hangar.
Thank you so much for your offer of help, I sent off for a cheap nylon quad frame last week so I haven`t completely given up hope with the KK2 FC.
I will get my head round it once I have a flying quad
