Hi Everyone -

After taking a few days off to get some flying done, I'm back at the build table puttering away on my 90% Su-27 built primarily with DTF.

Based on some advice from my "building with DTF mentor" and all round "DTF Jedi Master" Peter (@homey666), I picked up some DTF with the black paper on. He had let me know he picked some up and the paper came off quite easily.

As I paint my planes, the black DTF will be good for all those parts where I will remove the paper, but not necessarily for wings, back plates, elevons, etc where I will still use the DTF with the white paper on it to make painting easier. I managed with some creative placing to cut out all the parts of the fuselage, canopy, KFs and the internal fuselage structure which will all have the paper removed from one 20"x30" sheet. The paper did peel off very easily and cleanly .

Of note, it was raining a bit when I came out of the store after buying the foam, so a couple of the sheets got a bit wet on one side and when the water dried, the sheet warped considerably.

Once the parts were cut out and paper removed, the foam was flat, but it made that process of placing the parts and cutting them out a little more challenging. I have never had the white paper DTF warp in the same way, but then I found that the paper is definitely of different quality between the black and white.

The black paper is definitely a better quality paper and maybe a tiny bit thicker. It definitely took me a little more patience to cut it cleanly and dulled the blades more quickly.

I hope to have the remainder of the parts cut out today or tomorrow and get working away some more on the build and have it finished by next weekend with any luck

Cheers,

Scott

Greetings loyal NAMC Su-27 builders and pilots -

You may or may not be aware, the old NAMC site has been in limbo since Jan of this year. However, due to the gracious support of Parkflyers International, all NAMC plans are still available. http://www.parkflyersinternational.com/namc-parkjets.html The original Mig-35A and Mig-FA are still free as they were on our old NAMC website, the Mig-35B and Su-27 available by donation.

It has come to my attention recently that some folks may not have saved a copy of their Su-27 plans after paying for them before the transfer to Parkflyers International and will no longer be able to access them for free as they could when the NAMC website was active..

Earlier today, I sent everyone who purchased the plans an e-mail using my e-mail address of scott.parkjet@gmail.com and BCC so that your address would stay anonymous informing you of this. Please check your spam folder in the event the e-mail went there. If you find yourself in this situation without access to plans for which you have already paid before the transfer to Parkflyers International, please send me an e-mail at scott.parkjet@gmail.com using the e-mail address you used at time of purchase and I will gladly send you a copy of the Su-27 plans.
