With the rain and wet nasty cold that has been going on lately, I am in the building mode, I was looking at the old parts list and was wondering about motors, I purchased all the RCpowers, all v1,v2, ,v5 and some from v3 and v4.
So much has not really changed in my parts, UBEC/ECS, servo etc..., but there has been a big jump in motor tech and weight, size and power. And I noticed most of my motors are 5 plus years old.
I looked at the quad motors, while they are very small and powerful, I still need some raw torq every once and awhile and noticed that because of stator this may become an issue. I fly slow and hover so any suggestions on motors would be awesome, I do like a prop nut and want best bang for the buck, fly mostly with 3s battery, which I have alot of 😉, and I looked at some reviews, but there are so many it is mind boggling!
Thank You in advance

That Turnigy 2200kv motor is still a great option , no speed record holder but it with a 6X4 APC prop and 35A esc does great and will fly all of the planes, if there is enough space you can even put a 7X4 prop on it. If you want a little more grunt go with the HK Propdrive V2 2700kv motor, 60A esc and 6X4 prop. Some of those quad motors put out pretty good power, the GepRc  2306 2750kv, 6X3 TGS or EMP prop  and 40A esc has really good power for it's size and is faster then the Turnigy 2200kv motor.  Now I know you said you have mainly 3S batteries but that Turnigy and GepRc motor on 4S really perk up with the same prop on just use 40A esc minimum. The Propdrive V2 you would have to down prop it a bit to run on 4S

I have been a die-hard Turnigy 2200kv user for Polaris and many others in that style ... a good all rounder that is cheap and reliable.

Then I fancied a bit more kv and a model I had - the TGY 2200 was a little too long for the slot ... so I went for the Mongoose motor on Hobby King ... MultiStar V-Spec 2205 - 2350KV 420w Multi-Rotor Motor .... which as long as you are careful with the motor leads is a very powerful motor for its size and makes my Mig29 ballistic !
With HK's reduction of range of items and its prices not so attractive anymore - I started looking elsewhere, and this little beauty from Banggood caught my eye :

Racerstar 2212  2450kv .... same size as the TGY but more kv.... and CHEAP !! BG do sets of them as well even cheaper ... along with ESC's if wanted.

The MR world has turned our motor market upside down and we are seeing benefit...

Thanks, been looking at the Racestar line, and 2205 has the threaded shaft, which is a plus and 4.99 is awesome price, don't know much about their ESC's, I have been using the Plushline for HK, but I will look into the list you guys put forward, THX!

The Racerstar ESC's are tiny .... and so far I have no problem with them at all ...

I was a great fan of HK ESC's .... the old square plain 50A was my fav ... even though it had linear 2A BEC ... then the Redbrick series / blue ones. But the Racerstar .... the size is amazingly small ...

The only drawback for some - the MR versions need leads soldered to them ... but for me - I'm fine with that.
