Yeah that area looks fine Solent, for small foamies like your Hummer, wouldn't do a Durafly Xtrafly racer there.
like mastermalpass said tho I don't see how your going to stop people wandering under the flying area, especially kids, stray dogs and the retarded types ðŸ˜‚

It would be possible to fly a Hummer or other suitable 3D foamie ... but the worry of keeping people out of the flight area would spoil the day I think. Unfortunately - we have to apply the lowest form of intelligence factor to spectators .. that there is always an idiot that can spoil it for everyone.

As I discussed with the guys ... it only takes one incident and we are then totally f**** ....

The airfield I have found out is the pre-start collection venue for the FIA European Championship Rallye ... with world leading rallye drivers competing. We cannot compete with that - in fact many of the Drone Racing guys said they were going to the Rallye having bought tickets !!

The town I live in has its annual Festival today ... and we were supposed to provide a static display ........ but day before yesterday told it was mistake and actually DJI were to be at the Festival giving demo.

Well - just returned from a pitiful piss poor festival that bears no semblance to the excellent of previous years and NO DJI !!

Talking about the "retards" ðŸ™ˆwalking right under flying models this morning despite the breezy conditions I went out and had a few flights, there is a whole field surrounded by trees and footpaths all round where I go so no shotage of space, this woman with 2 dogs comes from behind me unseen of course and walks right out from beside me not 20 feet away and right below my landing model, ðŸ˜
I mean wtf , why would you, why would anybody when there is enough space there to Not Do That ðŸ™„ was it just a bit of "😈ment" or just plain "thick as mud" by her.

All too often its like a magnet ..... you see a park. Loads of people in one part and rest empty .....

Also there are those who just cannot accept another can have 'fun' ... they have to intrude and spoil it.

I've actually seen this done ....

Pal of mine joked he could do it .. so I dared him.

He stood on the pavement and pointed up .. saying "Blimey look at that !" ... He winked an eye at me and I pointed up but said nothing. Soon we had a small crowd round us all looking up ... when he asked if others could see it .. some actually said Yes of course ...

There was nothing of course .. and we walked away leaving a small crowd wondering what the hell had happened.

I know, it's like the empty car park syndrome, I like my own space and hate people who fling their car door open with wild abandon, usually right into the side of somebody else's car that they maybe worked hard to buy, so you go in an empty car park and think I will park far away from the store so if anybody else comes here they will park near the entrance and away from me, you go back outside and there are only 2 more cars have arrived, one is parked each side so close you can barely open the door to get in your own car, the rest of the car park is of course empty.
Now thats that woman this morning, one of the park too close people.
I'm not sure if they are stupid, or lonely , or attention seekers, or just plain full of their own poo, or maybe they are very clever and know how to annoy other people without it being really obvious, and like you said it could also be a case of they don't like to see anybody having something they do not, I'm not a shrink but I bet one could tell me why these people behave as they do.

i bet you were standing at the corner where we have done the past few months 😂
need to move along the field a bit next to the trees where we were last week, then the only way she could sneak up from behind you is through the trees 🌳 🌲 🌲
now that would be creepy lol

I was standing there but she came in from my right side and headed into the middle of the park, walked about 60feet in front of me then began throwing a ball to her dogs right in front of my face, so I brought the plane round , near skimmed her fat ass and landed it beside me, I thought 2 can play your game, she was lucky it wasn't Peter he would probably have crashed into her ðŸ˜‚

i

lol she could have caught it for him

all Being said , we need to share the space however we are the ones that need to concede at times.

it was like the other day when that stupid dog kept running around in circles in front of us looking for it’s ball, as I was landing the SU it appeared right in front of it and I had to abort then it’s owner decided to do the same lol
yea we do have liability insurance but we need to be 150m away from individuals, as much as it’s hard when they sneak up on you.
people are stupid
if questioned we would be in the wrong

In think part of the whole is that today we have models that years before we could only dream about. E-Power and Foam have brought about a revolution in models that now gives us the flying in spaces we would never have considered before.

Glow engines, heavier models etc. all played their part in us being in farmers fields or large areas away from the 'Dog Walkers' etc.

as ShadeyB says - we need to give in such situations and also are required to keep safe distance from others. Compounding this - the lack of understanding or just plain pig-pigheadedness of some makes it difficult for us.

If we get into argument with these idiots - we most often lose. The fact we are usually minding our own business and they are the aggressor, makes no difference ....

On the subject of Shows and Demo's ............. I am again appalled by lack of response here in Latvia. Latvian Rules mean we need to have Insurance for shows etc. There's no requirement for just hobby field flying YET .. but it will come.

As an Ex SMAE rep and involved with BMFA when I lived in UK - I have taken those as guidelines to try create an Association over here. If I get any response - its "We never needed before .. we don't need it now" .....
Even when you remind them that EU is requiring each state to follow a generalised set of rules / guidelines which has the exemption clause in that membership or piloting under the guidelines of an organisation / club is sufficient and no need to follow the stricter CAA rules. They still ignore the fact - soon they will HAVE to conform.
My offer to create and have in place something to help protect is brushed aside.

I have discussed Insurance and now looks like I shall take out individual policy and be legal to do shows etc. - and wait to see what happens. The Insurance Brokers are also going to give me quotations for Group Block coverage for when I do form the Association.

I am serious about it because I want to be able to enjoy the hobby till I shuffle off to my cloud !!

i commend you for your approach, knowledge, experience and trying to start something with the hobby we all love in Latvia.
i think with the way things are moving with CAA and everyone else who’s trying to claim air space and generating rules and regulations to benefit their own goals disregarding most other. It will take strong drive and momentum from yourself and other lovers of the hobby to get it going. Hopefully and I’m sure you will succeed with or without the help of others.
with your approach and generating interest as you have mentioned in previous posts, static displays, offering kids photo opportunities doing demonstrations I don’t think it will take you long lol
start another utube channel with your commitment towards the project ? Get a dedicated (your own) flight field,  Share with the wider audience? Don’t know just couple thoughts

certainly wish you the best of luck as I’m sure others do

Many thanks for encouragement ... I will get it done ..

I am coming to conclusion that if I set myself up legally to fly Demo's - then I can show the public AND other modellers here what can be done. Starting of as a 'one-man' show may just kickstart it enough.

I talk to various other flyers - even boat and car modellers - they are keen and say they will join. But when it comes to doing .. like many things - they want it handed on a plate.

To create a non-profit Association here is online and costs about 100 euros .. needs two signatures and 'officers' as admin. I am willing to sponsor it out of my company ... and accept that I am only part of admin - that local Latvian persons are more acceptable. I posted on the Latvian Forum that I would setup a system where THEY the members would vote admin so they have a serious say in the running and setup.

It really does need to be done - as may here can see ... in UK and USA as example - without a National Body - the situation would have been impossible. BMFA and AMA for all their faults have been voices against draconian regulations. Problem is trying to convince average Latvian about this !

when you DO get it up and running you could invite some of us crazy pilots to your expos ☺️

I for one could demonstrate how not to fly or the efficiency of a hot glue gun lol or both , tape also works to hold it together enough for another couple flights 😂
could also get Dodgy-crasher involved and he can show you how to land in trees correctly 😂😂
