Depends on my mood.

If I'm in a good mood I cut the connector off after the last use, heat-shrink-tube the loose ends and take the battery to my local electronics store for them to take care of.

If I'm pissed about something and I feel like destroying stuff could end up brightening up my mood then I take the battery to some fire resistant place and try various things to set it on fire.

So far the latter has only happened to 2 tiny 1S LiPos found in keychain cameras.

I kill them off with a light bulb attached and then I drive a nail through them.

I see this nail mentioned a number of times but cannot see what its use is. If the nail was to junction the anode / cathodes of the cells then I can see the point, but just driving it through - only punctures the 'pouches' and releases electrolyte. It does initially junction the 'polymer plates' - but soon is ineffective due to the coating that occurs. I've seen LiPo's flame from doing that even when at low charge level.

Killing with the light bulb to make sure it is at 0 voltage, I will actually try the bulb on the battery a few times just to make sure it hasn't revived at all but once that nail goes through the battery is dead period.

I like to check with multi-meter for zero ... as the bulb can fail to light - but still have life in battery.

Hi all  I simply plug my lipo into this and let the lipo drain to 3 volts per cell then I connect the big end lol to the lipo and let it drain the battery completely. I have binned 19 lipos this year, most of them were at least 5 years old. Some of them were 6s 6000 [ Trex 550 ]. lipo killer.jpg

Another way of course is to use a LiPo charger and set to NiCd discharge ... to get round the 3v limitation of LiPo setting.

An option that I would like alot, but sadly the german gun laws are ATROCIOUS.

The closest thing I could do would be to pelt it with my airsoft guns until eventually the BBs would bust through. But I can't do that either since I don't have a fireproof aera I could go to that ain't out in public or anyone else's property who would let me shoot there, let alone shoot a LiPo battery that could turn into a flame thrower in the process.
