Best results so far (by far) is drywall tape and glued over hinge line BEFORE I cut out the control surface
Really good results
Glue can't foul hinge line
Now looking for a lighter drywall tape with a closer weave

Normally with my hinges for strenght, not only do I use the Fibatape and foam-tac on top.I spread some foam-tac on the beveled edge and put reinfored packing tape in that area and use a card to crease it into the hinge,I can tug on it all day long with out an issue.

Yea been tossing that idea around in my head
Thought of putting small strips of drywall and glue as an underside hinge?

I always do both,I have had the fibatape start to let loose after a while like you showed in the picture when I didn't and trying to reglue it would not take to the fiba tape again so now I do both sides and have no issues.

Epoxy will go brittle and yellow in the sun(UV?) if your plane lasts long enough.

That definitely WON'T be a problem for me!!
