There have been a few FT aircraft that impressed me as. ..worth it. I am hoping that this is one of those. So far I am impressed with the build.

Our good friend Malukk was kind enough to translate this same plan over to work with 6mm depron or MPF so that all the seams lineup correctly. I couldn't say no

She is homely. .I'd be lying if I told you differently but I wanted a simple, stable fpv vehicle that I could still scratch build. Consider you can today buy a Bixler for well less than $100. Great news right ... but shipping costs as much if you had ordered a box of foam.

So I went to work and started sticking pieces together. .

My availible build resource was the video posted on the Flite Test itself. My solution there was to mute my audio and scroll through the various sections. The video itself is very good...you can choose whether or not you wish to listen.

This is as far as I've gotten this weekend. The fuselage is built.

YEAHHH!!!! Your da man Tom!!!!

Was having a chat with bogusbandit56 about FT Explorer, and now you've gone half way. I'll be watching your thread and build it later. It's good to feel that someone out there is about to build the same plane.

Gotta finish the Mig-35B and CFA-44 G2 fast and move to this one.

Malukk, if you're staying next door, I'll be paying the cutting service almost every day

Very nice. I built two of the foam board versions and they fly nice. Like most FT planes they can be tail heavy. I put my servos as far forward as I could with long push rods and need a 2200 bumping the nose to balance.
Build it, Fly it, Crash it and Build another.

Looking good Tom!
Looks like it all does fit well...
I had to glue some 3mm depron on mine and sand it to fit some parts snug
I have adjusted all the dimensions so hopefully all will be good...

I think this would be a good fpv platform just like a bixler or hawk-sky...
Here are some pics from my build so far:

I did the brown paper treatment only at the center of the wing so that it can take the stress of rubber bands, will attach thin wood sticks on top...

Here is how it looks:

I got a really good deal on a couple T-motors MT2216 1100kv v2 motors... I hear they are very efficient so hoping to extend the flight times by at least 2-3min...
Have to run the numbers thru ecalc.ch to at least get an estimate of power/flight times and efficiency...

I think building this with depron/mpf would not only make this a light build than the DTF build but will also last long...

Wahahahaha I'm crying out loud here seeing all the progress you guys made.

Malukk, what's the scale factor to enlarge the plan? I calculated it and it's close to 1.314.

Bimo,
I dont scale the plans...
I work on the plans to keep the size same as original but adjust the dimensions of tabs, notches, edges and others so that it could be built to using 6mm foam...
I know it would be much easy if I would scale up but, i like to keep 'em the same size as the original once

Aaaaahhh.....got it! Will rework on those then. I like challenges specially when involving computer

Thanks man!

I have a tiny adjustment to make from Tom's suggestion and will send over...
Look for it in your inbox in a few...

One heads up on this type of build is, pay attention to your glue joints ... they have to be clean seams inside and out. So many of these pieces are inner joined later in the build and globs of glue can easily interfere with things.

Yes, the biggest challenge building an ft design from depron is the different folds, gotta make sure you get the right fold on each one or it wont fit/match. I mucked up a few times when i built the bushwacker.
Hey DM, I heard rumours you crash better than Mel Gibson and Robert Downey Jr😃

Can you message me with the modified plans? I would like to make the MPF version.

Tom,
Does the boom fit well in the fuselage? Is it a snug fit or is it loose? I adjusted it because it came out loose for me, I adjusted that for you however...
It should be a really tight fit so there is no need to put a dowel thru it to hold it in place...
Let me know...
