Yeah, It is an ugly brute with terrible handling. It looks like the builder wrapped an engine in aluminum and put on some wings as an after thought.
In comparison, a British racing plane from the same era, my personal fave of all time the De Havilland DH 88 Comet.
I have a Durafly version but daren`t risk flying it as it is a notorious tip staller🙂

The Smooth Baron flies great! Very nice finish as well. Not sure what to do about that underbelly though... 3D Printed plate?

The Dh.88 is not fun on handling, no. Even Flite test's one with the eliptical wing with undercambered tips would tip stall nastily:

It is worth noting the props weren't pointed down like they recommended in the video - forgot all about that part. But still, bad idea to try that as my second plane, I tell you that!

Yeah, you have to be really smooooooth with the controls and make your turns long and gentle whilst keeping up the speed.
I learned a lot about tip stalling from my first Skywalker Falcon flying wing and when I wasn`t crashing it the Orange receiver`s  were.
If you try the Cruzer again make a small leading edge droop about three inches long and put some reflex in the last  three inches of aileron to give the tip some washout. I don`t know for certain if it will work but should in theory.

I was expecting some real bad adverse affects from having such a smooth wing with a totally flat underside but it went great. The belly, well normally I don't land in gravel and really all foam will get torn up then especially when not protected, it is patched up now and a strip of duct tape has been added. 😉

THis new format is a bloody nightmare . All the post are getting mixed up and I don`t know my arse from my elbow when it comes to replying to someones comments.
Instead of being separate, they all get assimilated like a Borg nightmare book.

Watch out for these bits when you quote someone. If a video or image is posted, the Quote stops and starts again for some reason:

[CUhOI6i]

Remove this mid-parts and your quote will be in one clean piece, and you'll be less likely to put your own comment within it, which I've noticed. ðŸ˜‚

Personally, if the post is big or full of pictures, I sometimes like to strip quotes down to the one or two paragraphs I'm specifically responding to to keep things neat. 🙂

Had the Smooth Bloody baron out for a couple spins today, BUT, this time on 4S, this guy rocks pretty good. 2nd video for most of it it was at 1/2 throttle and speed is great plus even with just a 1800mah battery I got close to 10 minutes flight time.
