I have ACCST (never can remember all the letters !!) .. DJT and V8JT Modules in my 9xr and 9x radios ............. working perfectly. Why should I change ??

I need more Rx's - but FrSky Rx's are now difficult to find for these modules.

I know eventually I will probably end up with a Jumper radio ... seems good idea with the Jumper covering most radio formats in one unit. But till then - I am holding out !!

I see Banggood has Jumper Rx's and 'other unbranded' FrSky compatible D8 / D16 Rx's ...............

So I'm asking if anyone here uses any of these compatible / clone Rx's ? Any good ?

Prices certainly seem attractive enough ...

The Jumper R8 - D16 Rx has my finger hovering over the Buy it Now on BG ...

I know Midelic who came up with the original DIY D8 FrSky receivers has torn the Jumper ones apart and found problems with them that he's fixed and documented on a thread on RCGroups.
I've tried the F82-DA receiver and not really had too many problems with them as long as you have the antennas oriented properly..

The last one I bought was a Motive RC R8SB and that definitely seems pretty good I must admit - so far no issues at all but I've not pushed the limits on it yet due to lack of flying weather but it had a very good static range test - certainly as good as a D4R-II...

I've used the RX-F802 which is Midelic's original receiver but doesn't have diversity so it's not quite as robust as the others.

I've also got some boards and all the bits to make my own DIY D8 receiver using Midelic's code but I just haven't had the time or the inclination to put one together yet.  Lots of surface mount work (including the CPU) so it'll be quite a challenging job I think...

I saw his posts about flashing etc. of the R8 Jumper Rx .... its put me off it to be honest .... I'm all for out of box stuff rather than flaffing about ..

I admire his work - must have been extensive ..

There are various Rx's now I've found that can do the job out of box ... in fact there's one that really interests me that can replace my 4ch FrSky rx's (I loved those because range for a single antenna small job was over 1km ... ) - it just needs the servo pins soldered in ... at about 9 euros incl shipping ... 500m range ... got to be worth a pop !

The other thing that I can't work out but if I'm reading it right the only telemetry that the Jumper will feed back is RSSI unless you're using a pixhawk.

Can definitely recommend the MotiveRC one though - straight out of box with full telemetry and onboard voltage monitoring too.

I've ordered the 4ch mini compatible (2 pcs) and one Motive RC 9ch ............ lets see what they do !!

I think later I will be buying either an updated Jumper 18 or the Radiomaster TX16S .....

Then I can forget all this crap !!  Not too keen on the Jumpers internal PCB 2.4Ghz antenna though .... reviews show its not so good range

I'll stick with my X9D+ I think - I've got a multi-module if I need it but it's been the most reliable set up I've used so far using the D8 receivers.
If the clones keep adapting to improve then I can't see it being a problem at all in the future for the stuff I fly anyway 👍

One of my FrSky modules is hard to get the bind button to work .... so that's one radio only part used ...

If I was to buy a replacement module - I'd be better of buying the Radiomaster ........

There is one aspect that I am not so happy about ............. openTX ..... I'm an er9x .. ersky9x user.

Same here - ersky9x (or erskyTx as it's now called) is definitely my OS of choice.
Always handy too when you need a feature and you can just ask Mike Blandford if it's possible and normally in a couple of hours you've got a new version ready to go!

I know he's working on a version for the TX16S at the minute too so it won't be long before that's in the mix too.
I keep an eye on the doings with it all here...

Decided to have a look inside and found that the Bind Button just fell out !! Its a simple push to make across two contacts. The solder was non existent !!

Pal of mine will redo it - my irons are too big for board work. With luck that will put another 9xr back in use ...

I have also been looking at multi protocol modules ...... whether they would work in my 9xr's .......

The old 9x and 9xr's I have still perform well ... shame to de-commission ... will keep on with them till absolutely last legs !!

This seems to fit the bill quite well :

https://www.banggood.com/IRangeX-IRX4-Plus-2_4G-CC2500-NRF24L01-A7105-CYRF6936-4-IN-1-Multiprotocol-STM32-TX-Module-With-Case-p-1225080.html?rmmds=search&cur_warehouse=CN

Has simple rotary switch on the module to change protocol instead of the UAV one which needs updated FW menu to do it ...

2 minutes and module fixed !!

That bind button really is only held by two tiny blips of solder ...

Now have radio fully operational again ... that's 3x 9xr and 2x 9x .....

That's the one I've got - seems to work pretty well and it's well supported by Pascal too.
That on a 9XR pro is pretty much a T16 function wise too 😉

Nice one ...

I've just ordered the small Multi board for one of my 9x's - to control Eachine and WLtoys gear I have ... for 8 euros incl. shipping .... !!

I used the multi when I was migrating off the Flysky set up I had before. A bit buggy at times on that protocol though for some reason but it seems to be just my receivers that were causing the problems as most other people never had a problem with the FlySky AFHDS2A system.

Ended up sticking a FrSky DJT internal on the 9XR Pro until I cocked up a rebuilt and blew a fused link on the board.  That's when I bought the FrSky X9D+ and eventually repaired the 9XR and use it on the simulator now.

For 8 euros all in ... I'm more interested in its ability to fly my Eachine gear ... as the silly game controller style Tx they supply drives me nuts. Sticks far too short ... etc.
