I trawled back through the threads trying to find who it was that liked biplanes and somebody else wanted plans as I was gonna post this link on that thread, anyway I found these plans while surfing other sites, and they look good , so much so it's on my build list.

Steve Schumate is of course famous all over the world for his F15 ... Polaris etc.

A great plan maker and also a very good flyer !

I have had the DR1 plan in my archive for a long time and every now and again think about it ...

I would think that to aid the CoG problem - a 3D printed cowl would be in order .... instead of adding lead. As well as a few 3D printed guns and other additions up front.

Your post has re-kindled my interest in it again ...

I was thinking making the wheels out of something heavier than 6mm depron would add weight and as most of the wheel is in front of the cog it's a winner, well worth experimenting with anyway, a heavier motor would do it too , maybe.

I have a 3D SE5 that I modified from the plan .... similar size to this DR1 ...
I created a shallow aerofoil wing instead of the flat plate plan had. It could be a great companion to the DR1 ...

It has also made me look again at building supplies - luckily a Lithuanian outfit has picked up the pieces after the best Lith Rc seller closed down .. and offers CF tube etc. at reasonable prices ....

BUT I cannot get standard FrSky Rx's now ... the older ACSSST (or whatever the letters are !) ... sellers only have the later S and SBus series now ..

Looks like I may have to look at a Jumper radio or similar to get round this .....

Plenty of the S series available like that - but its not D8 / DJT compatible ... I have the older FrSky V8JT and DJT modules ... which will not work with the S series.

I looked at swapping out the module on one Tx (I have 6) ... but I'm told that the S series Module is not compatible with 9XR / 9X radios .......... UGH !!!!

Yep .... most certainly is ........

Its funny since posting that I cannot find FrSky Rx's ... I have been finding all sorts of 3rd party Rx's that have picked up where FrSky have abandoned us D8 users.

Reminds me of Futaba ............ who shat all over their user base by changing protocol .. and of course Spektrum who had users stuck on two slots on 2.4 and then realised that everyone else was hoping 16 or more ...

I am a dedicated FrSky ACCST user ......... but will not bin my gear for their new secretive protocol !! Jumper or Radiomaster look like they will have my custom from now on ...
