Halloa people 🙂

sooo yes.. allmost unbelievable but here is another build project from me.. I've been working (selecting parts etc) on this one for several months....
I am in the process of replacing my 4S (GepRC KHX5 Elegant) freestyle quads with fresh 6S versions 🙂 in this thread I'll show you the "Why & How" of this project...

I'm actually going to start this story with 2 first flight tests! 😃
Later on I'll tell you what parts I used and WHY I chose those......

Parts list:

Frame: Speedybee 5" 225mm

Stack: Diatone Mamba F722S + 6S 4-in-1 Dshot1200 ESC

Motors v1: iFlight Xing 2207 1800kv

Motors v2: Racerstar SIC 2207 1888kv

Props: Gemfan Windancer 5043

FPV camera: Runcam Racer 2 black 2.1mm

FPV transmitter: Rush Tank VTX

Interesting choice-o-motors(s) ...

My goto 5 inch anymore is the GepRC Mark-2 frame with the 2207 2400kv motors. Even with the softer HQ 5x4x3 props it reacts crazy fast. Lots of fun to fly but is a little over powered for flying around in the backyard.... she's more of an open space bird if you want to open her up.

Bringing me to my motors. My next build will also be a 4s 1500 but was looking at the 2306 1700kv motors to give me a little more grunt on the lower end of the throttle curve. Thinking this will give me a little better dynamics given the spaces that I normally fly around in by the house here.

My question: Thinking who better to ask ... am I going the right way here with my science, or would recommend something different again. I didn't want to make it too docile.

I did include the new 30x30 mamba stack on this one too btw 👍

Halloa 🙂

well YES.. that tends to happen when testing / reviewing stuff 😃  I for sure am not a Racerstar fanboy.. these look / feel very much the same quality as Xing motors..
BUT.. I should do more testing before having a real opinion 🙂

The Mark-2 is an excellent frame as well.. I have one here.. it is not in the same ballpark as this Speedybee frame but I do like flying it..

Well.. I would not invest in motors that aren't 6S ready anymore.. or it must be for a specific reason.. soooo those 1700kv's could run on 6S and on 4S (or 5S for that matter)..
seems legit to me 😃

yes.. that 30x30 could probably have worked for my quads as well.. I ran them (I have 2 flight ready by now) up to 71A but that was a Struggle 😉

Sooooo obviously these freestylers need a BRAIN! And not just any.. I basically use F7's for all my quad builds.. Allso: I use Mamba / Diatone stacks in most cases..

continuous A: 4 x 50 = 200A
BEC: 5V 2A & 9V 2A
peak A: 4 x 55 220A (10 seconds)
Voltage: max 6S ( 7.4V - 25V)
protocol: Dshot300 - 1200
ESC processor: 32 bit

A 3 layer stack. The Mamba 40a flight stack then a runcam split 2 video card.

That was definitely a hot tip Mr. Dutch and I thank you. This one is 6s on a geprc mark 4 frame using 2306 2400kv motors.

My only rub with this particular frame (Mark-4) is there is no slot on the upper panel to snake your battery strap through.  It simply wraps around the entire panel.  The battery can shift with a ground strike/ bounce.  Two straps does help that but still... it's the idea it could have been cut into frame easy enough and why not just do it.

I do like this type of H-frame that behaves and flies like an X-frame. It works well for a cruise around the trees and/or free style when I have the room to flip and goof around that way.

If I was serious about race performance I would recommend to go with a true X-frame and carry the battery on the underside.
