Ok so some of you may know that a few days ago, my quadcopter crashed out of no where when it was 10 degrees outside. No wires were loose, chopped up or anything. when it crashed, it just completely shut off for no reason. Today i was flying outside in 3 degrees with an airplane i just built with a different orange reciever than what was in my quadcopter but was from the same order that i got them in....was flying and it completely shut off for no reason... others have have experienced the same problem (schome5) and he was flying in the cold and it shut off. If i were you, dont order or use any orange rx's that you got within the last 1.5 months...my dads friend makes and tests electronic boards and has a big machine to test electronics in (it sees how cold/hot the boards will work in) so i may go and try that out...but i think for us flying in the cold, we need to find a new cheap reciever.

I wonder if you might be getting frost or ice across the circuit board in flight? Shorting out your rx?

Yes, I've known that I'm "different" for some time now...

Its a good guess but a lot of water would have to be present to make that happen...ive had my recievers covered in snow when flying and nothing happens to them. My kk2 has been covered in snow and nothing happens. I even had tape over the front of the plane so no air could blast the reciever.

Sorry to hear about the bad luck with the receivers, I have used mine in temps right at freezing with high humidity, haven't had any issues. Were the ones that you suspect failed the 610 with the single antenna or the new 615 with the two antennae? I have a couple of the new ones with the two antennae, but have yet to use them, have had good luck with the 610 single antenna model.

Cheers,

Scott

I was using my dx7s.
It is just the single antenna version. I got them about 2 weeks ago.
The other orange rx's that ive had from a year ago have red heat shrink on the antennas and these have orange heat shrink on them...I just got an ar600 an will be putting it in the plane that dropped out of the sky this morning and ill know if it is the reciever or something else
