DAVE'S TOP 5 SCRATCHBUILDER TIPS
Field Repair Kit! (eCourse Module 24)
So many people take their plane out, bust the nose up a little, then go home! Don't let this be you! A simple field repair kit can be assembled that will allow you to make cheap, fast repairs and keep flying all day!
Use the KFm2! (eCourse Module 27)
The simple "plate" airfoils used on parkjets don't work very well for advanced flying. If you are serious about making a stable plane or a fast plane, the KFm2 is an excellent start. If you need more speed, the KFm4 is a good option.
Use onboard mixers! (eCourse Modules 33-39)
We use onboard mixers on all our models to keep things simple and effective. The mixers are especially needed if we are using gyros. We use these mixers and our Ultimate Course covers several different wiring diagrams.
Spoilerons! (eCourse Module 37)
Spoilerons make landings super easy and work perfectly with most parkjets. They can work excellent for high alpha and loops, and they easily work with our onboard mixers.
Get good servos! (eCourse Module 9)
Low cost servos end up costing you more in the end. They'll often freeze up, strip out, overheat, and stop working. Metal gear high end servos only need to be installed once and just work. Check out our Master Parts List.
