This is a continuation on my nose heavy thread
Got a 4s 1000 mAh batt and my cog with 5g is bang on plans
Will my sunno/focal price A2212/2200kv with a tgs6x4 handle it or toss its lunch ?
What's your views/experience

ive got a similar motor don't know the the make though and as been ok on 4s but I don't use a lot of WOT.

I`ve seen somewhere, I think RCpirate tested one of those motors with 6x4 prop on 3s and it pulled over 50 amps and achieved around 1.1 kg of thrust at WOT.
I would say be very careful

I have made a mistake and thought this was the 2212 2700kva motor.

Its not the volts (within reason) that kills a motor but the amps it pulls.
If the 2212/6T really draws 50A on a 3s with a 6x4 then you will have to prop down to say 5x3 to keep the amps to something like the same level.
Such small props at high revs are particularly inefficient so you may end up with little or no performance advantage over a 3s along with a shorter flight endurance for the same weight of battery!
Use a Watt meter so you can stop before the amps get too ridiculous and don't stand anywhere near the prop in case it "lets go"!

I have blown several 2212/2200kv cheepO with 30 amp ESC and destroyed the ESC at the same time using a 4c @WOT The 2826 turnigy with 40 amp skywalker will take 4 cell WOT and hold together

As far as prop goes smaller ie 5.5X4 - 5x4 and 6X3 all turn too fast, and no gain in performance I have also tried the master airscrew 3 blade 6X4-3 which looses too much power on a 2212, but the 2626 turnigy spins the 3 blade fine and has good performance

Got a turnigy 2826 on another plane too tight to buy another (that's on a 4s)

I owe you an apology. I must have had a senior moment for some reason I thought it was the 2212 2700kva motor, which pulls 50amp on 3 with a 6x4 prop.
Now the best thing would be to have a look at e3-scott`s motor bench tests for info.
i don`t know of anyone else that has run the 2212 2200kv on 4s. It`s a matter of suck it and see.
You may get the battery hot.

Somehow I have the feeling there will be a smoke show in the near future. Take it up and just run 1/2 throttle for a bit and then bring it in and check temperatures. If it's not to bad go again and maybe 1 or 2 quick wot burst and bring it in again to check the temperatures again.

I see these kinds of questions often.

It’s good to know what your motor can or can’t do,... “safely”.

As you mentioned there’s lots of info about different motors on e3_Scotts thread. The thread is lengthy and takes time to sift through all the info but it is worth the effort.

Not everybody wants to spend a little extra cash for a watt/amp meter and buy or make a Thrust stand for testing their motors but it’s one of the best ways to know if it can be done safely. Then you can post the info so we can all benefit.

With a decent and relatively cheap watt/amp meter hooked up you can bring up the throttle slowly and see what’s going on in real time.

This is what I would recommend doing before flying it and watching for smoke.
