Wildthing
Wildthing is building an IL2-M3. It's looking really cool already and it made me want to fire up the sim and have a virtual fly of it, since building and flying a foam one myself is a little down the line for me yet. 😋

This one went a lot better than the WW1 Sims. Not sure if WW1 Sims have made me better at WW2 Sims, if the IL2-M3 is just a simply brilliant plane, or if setting it against a BF110 G2 Wasn't really a fair fight.

That's cool,
I see I need to print some exhaust pipes 🙂

BB mentioned the BF109, and I thought, 'eh why not?':

DCS is a game I've mentioned or used videos of a few times on this forum, but I've yet to show an example of myself playing it - so here we are. It's the most detailed and realistic sim I know - with nearly every switch and button in the cockpit of every plane and heli doing something when you mouse-click it.

SInce BB56's real-life version of my SkyBlade drew so much attention towards KSP lately, here's a quick vid of me landing on the outer of Kerbin's 2 moons:

The reason why I first built a huge rocket and then scrapped that in favor of a much smaller one was that I wanted to see how little fuel I could get away with, and after I first thougfht I wouldn't be able to land on Minmus anymore when I ditched what was supposed to be the transfer stage before even leaving Kerbin's orbit I decided to try it anyway and, much to my surprise, ended up ditching the last bit of fuel I had left before the final re-entry.

Was an interesting watch! No SRBs, though? I've always considered them the 'Go-to' first stage.

That was interesting to watch but holy cow that is a long video for a game. Can you pause and save it half way through and come back later or are you stuck there until the mission is done.

Don't like the fact that u can neither throttle them down nor shut off once they're lit. And I like being able to throttle down in case too much heat builds up on ascent.

I'm not entirely sure about that, but I think the game allows saving (and automatically does so) whenever a stable situation (like orbit around a celestial body) is achieved or the next event is a long way ahead. And u can also quicksave and quickload, often saving u from flying a whole mission again just coz u screwed one little bit up. I usually finish a mission I've started unless things go too far south and I become frustrated, in which case I often delete the whole save and start over from scratch, at least if Kerbals are involved and either die or get stuck without me being able to rescue them. I just hate screwing up that bad and If I had to take care of astronauts in real life and got anyone killed by fuckin' things up I'd probably hang myself after receiving punishments.

That's why I'd never take a job where the lives of other people depended on me, except I ran into a situation where it's all or nothing.

Let's just assume I was on a plane with just a single crew. Just a short flight, no reserve crew needed. The very unlikely case of both pilots becoming unable to fly kicks in and asking passengers for their experience in flying planes shows I'm the only other person aboard who even knows the basics of flying ANYTHING.

First thing I would do is ask 1 of the stewardesses (since they're part of the crew 'running' the plane) to sit down in the co-pilot's seat and assist me. Then I'd radio ATC:

"MAYDAY, MAYDAY, MAYDAY, this is >insert callsign here<. Both pilots are unable to fly, and I'm the only other guy on this plane who somewhat knows how to fly, need instructions to bring this plane and all people on board down in one piece."

And I'd have them guide me to a runway and tell me where what is, if necessary, and when to do what, and with the stewardess next to me and listening she could do some of the stuff and allow me to concentrate on flying the plane.

Of course I hope I'll never end up in such situations and the chances are really slim anyway, but I'm damn sure if things went down the way I described I could actually succeed in saving everyone's ass.

Nice to see I'm not the only one who's wandered if he could save a plane in an emergency. Can I fly a plane? I'm sure I can fly a plane, what with all the fly-by-wire on them these days... But can I land a plane? Well, let's not risk it before I'm trained, shall we? ðŸ˜‚

Well if ur the only one aboard who can even FLY it everyone's gonna rely on u to LAND it aswell. I'm definitely glad I've been flying gliders for a while and thus have SOME experience beyond all simulators, and ATC / the local tower would most likely do all they possibly can in order to help me land the plane safely in my example.
