A typical esc has a 5 amp bec correct? I ordered some escs without bec's in them ( learning) but obviously cant power my rx without a bec since there is not one in my esc. So i need a 5 amp bec correct?
Crashing is part of learning. If you don't have any, it's like getting an F

I think they do vary slightly, but it is normally marked on the ESC if it has a built in BEC in my experience. I use a 5A one with all my HK and Red Brick ESCs that don't have a built in BEC and regularly run 6 servos on this setup with (thus far) no problems.

This is the one I use from HK http://hobbyking.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idproduct=16663

Unfortunately I think they are out of stock of this one right now. I also have started putting a small JST connector on the battery end and the other part of the JST plug soldered to the battery wires of the ESC, makes it much easier to connect and disconnect if you want to move it to another plane or you happen to burn out your ESC and need to replace it, you don't have to cut the wires off and resolder as often.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Scott

It really depends on the ESC. 2A, 3A and 5A isn't uncommon.

The safe bet for these types of planes? Go with a 5A. The weight and cost differences are minimal and it's always better to have too much than not enough!
May all your crashes be spectacular!
Planes: RCPowers X-31EB V1, F-18EB V1, F-35EB V1, F-22EB V1 x 2, T-50 V1, EzFly Bomber (e-foamy.com), FunFighter 600mm F-4u Corsair, Mig 29 V2, Mig 29 v1.
Currently working on: Mig 29 v3, F-22 v3 To Do list: Rodrigo's OV10 Bronco; I swear I will get there one day .

Cuz tooling around is just not my style of flying. Full stick and full travel control surfaces.
