So now that I am back on topic......

Obviously RCP can do what it likes with its forum.
And obviously RCP is an established business with quite a lot of well earned respect.
Quite simply, I am surprised that RCP felt threatened by an "amateur" video; albeit a quite good one.
I have had my own business for over 30 years - it's the competition that keeps me up to the mark - I never feel threatened by competition - I just up my game.

I have noticed that RCP is not above taking "neat ideas" from the members of this forum and incorporating them into their way of doing things - there is nothing wrong with that of course and that is one way RCP and the hobby generally will expand and grow. But it seems to me that RCP is being rather naive if it believes nobody will repeat and perhaps build on (pun intended) their ideas.

In this case, Jeriah was simply putting some of his take on scratch building together in one place for his friends and, in my opinion, rather proudly wanted to show off his ideas on a forum to which he is a regular and valued contributor. He didn't take credit for all the ideas - far from it, he actively promoted RCP every step of the way.

For a young man who clearly is a huge fan of RCP to be greeted with "...i think you have some issues in there honestly..foam you use and other techniques that are not the best solution ... [JettaManDan - Administrator]" and "... when you post a "beginners course" well...you are trying to post yourself as the compeition... [JettaManDan - Administrator]" is hardly being supportive of a valued forum member and is, in fact, really rather patronising.

I believe that any young person starting out in whatever endeavour they choose should be given a pat on the back and a helping hand - not discouraged and twitted.

oh boy no one could have said it better look how they did that to this young kid trying to start helping people and there like our forum costs money well youtube or facebook dont charge me for there server or anything they are mad people arent buying the course this is basically a free hobby i bought the first parkjet system i learned more on this and other forums but i kept it and called it investing in rc powers but im not investing more money people wont just keep giving money once they learned to build they want to learn and compare with other builders which should be free to get others into the hobby thats how the hobby keeps growing i just didnt like how they discouraged the kid like i saw things that werent really good ways or this and that because you start being a moderator what that means your rc powers watch dog or something come on i guess people cant speak there minds unless you continue to invest or promote there items jeriah bought there course he gave money to them how did they think they would continue selling these little courses after what four years trust me theres so much free rc stuff out there they sold whatever they were gonna sell by now the only way they could profit now is to be like boxermad making new plans every day and marketing his motor mount and products like that people want to feel really satisfied especially in this economy when they buy something like my companies im in marble so if people were giving out marble everywhere for free i couldnt sell mine id have to find a new angle but they dont they think people will just keep pooring in money so they only come out with one or two free plans every so many years thats why they play out the f35 they try to really maximize the plane so they have lots of time to wait to come out with something new and dont get me wrong dave powers left scott holding the bag basically the poor kid has to promote, build, and the site ,so eventually the fire was gonna simmer its common sense to keep goin you have to always be the hottest thing on the block and have something no one else seen or owns. its like beating a horse until its dead . and people are supposed to give money hard earned money to people like what they did with this video

Just found these two threads and watched Jeriah's video...
I personally think his video is great and promotes both scratchbuilding and RCPowers.
From what I see its word of mouth advertising for us.

I didn't see him try and sell any particular product or promote a business.
Me personally I would have left (or put) the thread in the Scratchubuild section (not sure where it was originally).

The moderators have to make the best calls they can each day and I understand that. Its not an easy job to try and balance and please everyone. Every time they move (or don't move) a thread they run the risk of people getting upset and creating spin off threads, etc, etc.

So, I'll email the moderator, see what he says and ultimately back what he decides.
He has a track record of making solid calls in sticky situations over the years so I trust him to make the best call he can with what he's got.

Anyways, hope that helps, if not, carry on.

As far as I am concerned, the moderators let some people on the forum verbally abuse other people, especially a certain person who gets likes for his know-it-all-attitude that should be reprimanded in a harsher manner. I liked what the young man did and I hope he is more deserving of some respect from his elders. What are your boundaries RCP? I bet I get an answer from that certain person and he will get likes from people like him!

I don't think it's a negative to be moved, it's showing consistency. Many threads have been moved over the years. In the past there have been other how to videos and blogs that were moved. I'm thinking of one video series geared towards beginners that actually contradicted rcpowers videos and set up recommendations of the past. I think he did a good job and there may be many beginners watching it and learning. Those weren't deleted, they were moved to the business /blog thread. For a forum to have credibility the moderators must show consistency and this is. This is a video blog , no? I would think that it should go in the business /blog thread. Maybe there can be a video how to thread where rcpowers can take a "view at your own risk" approach in case the video was created by a maniac...
