I am one of several that link THINGIVERSE etc. to posts to give 3D prints that can be used for adding to the excellent FRC / RCP models here.

I am wondering if any value to actually listing direct files or links could be an idea so that searching on a thread dedicated to the 3D print listings could bring up the required ... instead of hunting through various threads ? It would need posters to name the posts accordingly of course ...

As wonderful as flying RC planes is, having them hit the ground and bounce back with minor damage is even better. I find it very expensive to keep a commercial "beginner's" plane flying. The whole "build-your-own" mind-set makes the hobby more enjoyable for me and holds down the costs.  If a 3D printed part can hold the battery better, or keep the fuse from cracking, so much the better.  A parts link should be a permanent fixture here IHO.

What I like - is that many of the 3D parts can be cut / scaled / modified to suit not only original intention but other as well.

Good example is the tapered curved engine pods on my Vulcan ... these are actually cooling ducts to mount on wing / fuselage to direct air in to batterys / ESC ... I just scaled up and turned them round to match my 3D printed exhausts.
F16 exhausts scaled to suit the Vulcan.

On my big 93 inch Lancaster that awaits my workshop completion has engine cowls printed up from a Tiger Moth design ... the cowls didn't look good for the Tiggie but are not so bad for the Lanc !

I took a 4"x10" air grate and scaled it down for the radiator grills for my Mossie.

you are more than welcome to start a dedicated thread to 3D print parts for R/C stuff. Especially if it pertains to the planes and plans you can get on this site.

Hi Dan ... the problem will be to keep each easily accessible / searchable ... as the thread builds - so the links will get lost down the pages. How to classify or  separate them ?

I was thinking this through as well and I will agree. It would be a lot of busy work in house keeping to offer object files itemized ...or searchable.

For example I printed a motor gripper thing to hold the motor housing while swapping out propellers. In the end if you have a printer I would just point to where I took it from. 😜

Well I had these 2 antennas off of an older wifi box and for some reason they were the only 2 pieces I saved and today a light came on 🙂 . My other balancing tripods come up short for some of the larger builds especially ones with landing gear and would have to space them up, so let's make taller ones 🙂 . A little ca glue so they don't fold plus I have a little package of huge shrinkwrap that I had no idea where I would ever use it and they fit the antenna perfect , so the knuckle is glued and shrinkwrapped 🙂 . 1 stand printed and assembled, 2nd one is on the printer now.
