READY to fire up printer once you've linked the STL files ??

The mount is same as I have .. saves all that silly weight of the case etc.

But I had to put a 3mm foam sheet in behind the GoPro to stop it moving in the clip.

Your 'sight' and the REMOVU remote should prove a very good solution.

Wish I could design and create 3D stuff !!

I just find it amazing that no-one has come up with a hat cam mount for GoPro / Sport Cam with aiming tool.

You can find thousands of bicycle bat mounts ... hat mounts .... but NOTHING to make sure its framed subject ......

The remote display is OK - but only if you move it into line of vision of the object you want to video.

I was toying with ice cream sticks just now and drilled one to hang down from the GoPro mount pivot bolt. Its edge on so does not obscure sight. I have a 3D printed half case for GoPro that has a target box on the top ... I held that to the stick and moved till it framed directly in front of eyes ...

mmmmmm

That will definitely help. Not only as a view finder but also constantly reminding you to focus your head, not your eyes, on the subject. Hope weather allows you to report on its performance soon! 😃

Still trying to figure out ... I know I need to remove the half mount from the viewer and then fix to the stick .... so I only have the square itself.

Ok .. I cut and reduced the square viewer to its minimum and attached to the lolly stick. Its too close to the eyes as I saw TWO squares .... it needs to be significantly forward extended from the peak ....

Arrrrrr .... just found interesting ... moving the square about in front of my eyes .. I fo9und that I could have back at peak brim BUT needs to be exactly centre between the eyes. Just a mm and it starts to separate the square into two ..

I've added another lolly stick ... made it much better BUT still you tend to get two squares .. but at least now its workable ..

Dunno what to think ..... the square is held by velcro so can be moved / adjusted if needed.

If it could be made in wire rod instead - to reduce the visual amount .... and be more 'nice' looking - then I think its a do'er ..... but as it is there - its a bit iffy !!

Well, I tried a test print and found exactly as you did Nige - you see two boxes!!

Would be great if we were only using one eye but for both it's not quite practical.
I'm wondering whether a dot sight may be better so it just lines up with the centre of the frame?

Or, just have the upper part of the frame so you know if you're lining up below that you stand a chance of it being in frame???

I'm stuck trying to think how to solve it .... I'm wondering if the box was bigger so it basically sits with both eyes within its perimeter ? And at a distance from the peak .... I base that on noting that if the box is exact centre between eyes - you have one box. Move it just a smidgeon and two boxes appear.
My extension was just under 4" and I still had two boxes but they were not so bad.

I think the problem is created by the eyes focussing inward when you look at the box ... but when you focus past the box - the eyes effectively diverge because of the binocular vision we have..... creating a fuzzy box image in each eye.

Maybe set up as one eye viewer by offsetting its position directly in front of one eye ?? That way you wont get 'vision jump' as you use one eye and then other. Just tried it and YES .... offset the box so its directly in front of one eye ... and it can be close ... you only have one box ... because the other eye doesn't see it ....

Just quickly tried the "one eyed" approach - I think it might just work!
Will design an angle to suit and see if it will align ok.

Although - it does make me want to do something like this 80's classic...

Although maybe without the skin complexion problems 😃

I think the best way has to be a variation on the one eye display as linked to before ... that can accept the WiFi signal from the GoPro / Sport Cam.

I have the Hawkeye reflector FPV system on its slow boat from China .... the mount can take a cellphone instead of the FPV receiver display ... BUT that then puts a full FPV screen in front of my face ... but it does flip up ... so maybe I have an answer to my problem on its way.

But it would be nice to solve it for the GoPro as well considering I have now cured my battery problem with it.

Blimey - The Last Starfighter ................... must drag out my mp4 and watch that again !!

I'll see if I can get the measurement right later and get a replacement bracket made up to place it over one eye (probably right eye for me).

The Last Starfighter is still one of the greats though - the first ever high CGI film.  They said it would be the future at the time but I'm not sure even they knew how far it would come!

Watched Last Starfighter again last night ... what I like about it - simple plain fun.

OK .... bloody GoPro ... at the proposed show site - wanted to use the GP and Removu ... no idea why but Removu had lost link with the GP4.

Made the video as best I could ... marginal ok.

Back home ............ I don't know if anyone else has the Removu unit - but its one pain in the butt to sort out ... if its already registered via the app and GP has WiFi set up ... it just sits there trying to link and no matter what you do - you cannot bypass to re-link.
You have to go right back to basics and delete all WiFi links and setup on the GP ... the smartphone APP ... even go into your GP account. I spent near 1 hour getting that re-linked !!

At the end - the rubber covers to the Removu buttons cracked and fell away ... so now I have no protection or ID over the press buttons ..
