I would like to have plans for the Firefox Mig 31. Are they still available?

    jibracer13,

    I doubt that they are.

I have been looking all over the Internet for a set of Mig-31 Firefox plans to purchase without any luck.

I have searched the RCP forum and it appears they will never be made available by them again.

So many talented creators around its a shame somebody hasn't decided to put out another set of plans for the Firefox.

If I get a lot more free time on my hands I might try to build my own PDF plans but until then it would appear we are all out of luck when it comes to the Mig-31 Firefox, at least for a score and fold 3D version.

i would build that one. I have the plans for the OG RCP Firefox....it looks good..but was a PITA to build and get setup right..never flew great with the top mount motor setup....that deal looks way easier....

The reason it has a rear mount is to balance the long nose. If you move the motor, bet you will have troubles balancing the plane. I scratch built a 1/3 "t" shape plane and had the same trouble with a long nose.

the balance on my RCP one was very hard to find..so the rear mounted motor setup may make that easier with the super long nose...def agree....

    whatmovesyou,
    Gotcha,
That makes perfect sense about the balance.

    Jett,

Was the RCP Firefox a profile plane or score and fold?

What did you end up doing to get the Mig-31 close to being balanced?

    Jett,
Is this the original RCP Firefox?

In this video it shows some rather "unusual" flight characteristics :)

Hard to see up close here but it is a beautiful looking plane.

That's a good looking plane Jett!

Nice flight. Your Firefox looks to be well under control especially for a windy day.

    Landing looked good too!

Much better looking plane than the rear motor mount I think.

i never got it balanced very well...think my motor was offline too - didn't fly great...looks tons better than it flew...

wow..forgot about that video lol - yeah it looks awesome...i never got the battery and CoG perfect....and the elevons are a bit small...if i built it again i'd mod it to make it mid motor cut somehow..and increase the control surface size...

Watched two flights of the Firefox. Your flight seemed more stable than the other.

Your plane does look good for sure in flight but hey, it is "The Firefox" after all :)

I saw this thread on a Firefox scratch build.

It was an EDF version made out of blue fan fold Foam or blue core.

Unfortunately it looks like it never flew or was completely finished but it looked like a good start.
