BB56 & Wild Argentina Pucara Project

Discussion in 'Scratchbuilding!' started by Wildthing, Dec 24, 2018.

  1. being winter you take what ever opportunity you can get unless you want to wait for months until spring and I can't see me doing that :D :D , heck I could build 12 more by then. ;)

  2. Well I tried today to do the maiden but ended up with some repairs to do. :( . I have 2 theories of what went wrong. 1st I didn't expect it to lift off as quick as it did and it just simply stalled and rolled into a cartwheel landing. :D Or my dumb thumbs which never use a rudder gave it rudder input on launch causing the roll. I know I did try to correct the roll with ailerons but not with the rudder. By tomorrow it should be ready to test again. :)

Ouch! A bit more speed I think.
It looks like the wind got underneath the right wing when it was going left.

  5. Or my dumb thumb was giving it rudder input. LOL.

  9. Looks just like new again! But seriously though, she looks very pretty! You did a really nice job designing this one

  10. Thanks Malukk, now to get it in the air. ;)

I know where you went wrong on the maiden. You PAINTED her:mad:
Look at how well the Mako flew in arctic camo:D

  12. You have something there, 99% of the time I never paint until they have flown. ;)

Well it is technically ready to test again. Had to add 1/4oz to the right wing for lateral balance because of the left wing repairs .
The next time I will first try to set a land speed record first before lifting off. ;)

You are very brave posting the maiden crash:D
I`m sure once she`s dialed in the Pucara will fly well.:)
Best of luck on the next flight.

    Frickin brilliant job Jeff.
She sits very well in the air and very responsive to controls:)

The elevator should have good authority being a T-tail, plenty of clean air.:)

  20. It
Glided in pretty smooth at a low speed, just a slight bounce but that would be the pilot that did that. Would be nice to have steering but maybe next time. :)
