Our
Test Results: |
| |
Remember,
we are just doing a quick test to find the answer to these 3 questions: |
|
|
| |
1)
What is the best KF airfoil for the SU-35 high alpha project?
(KF4 for sure on this one)
2) What is the best KF airfoil for the F-35 vertical take off project?
(KF3 won this one)
3) What is the best KF airfoil for caring extra weight? (The
KF3 Heavy Lifter) |
|
|
|
|
| |
| KF1,
The Original: We
didn't like this one, though our small, unstable, torque, delta, canard
plane might not be a good match for it. We expect better results with
the KF1 on other planes. This is not something we will be using anytime
soon. |
 |
| KF2,
The Most Common: We have used this one on the SU-35 and X-36 prototypes
and love it. It makes the wing alot stronger, produces more lift and
stability as well as speed. |
 |
| KF3,
The Heavy Lifter: This one is just an exaggeration of the KF2
really. Lots more lift is seen right away on this, but because of
the extra lift, it's slower. We plan to use it on the F-35 VTOL as
it will give us good lift at slow speeds. |
 |
| KF4,
The Aerobatic Speeder: This one was the show-stealer. First of
all, it's much faster than all of them. The airflow is equal on the
top and bottom which gives it self-made-stability. I was surprised
that it was always flying straight even though I knew the plane was
out of trim. The increased airflow makes the controls more responsive.
Plus, at high alpha, the bottom step comes in handy giving it slow
flying abilities. It's like having a speed wing with built in self
deploying flaps as well as gyro stabilization. This will go on the
Su-35 high alpha for sure. The discovery of the KF4 alone made this
entire test worth it right there. |
| |
| Overall,
I can now confidently finish off the SU-35, start the F-35, and design
future projects with the ideal KF wing providing the most efficient
platform. These simple tests have allowed me to take the information
that I have been reading about for years and now own it. |

Dick
Kline set a world record of the farthest paper airplane using his
KF airfoil! He wrote the book, The
Ultimate Paper Airplane and has been on 60 Minutes,
Good Morning America, and The Late Show with David Letterman. |

| In
this 40 minute discussion Dick and Dave talk about the origins of
the KF airfoil, how it got into RC, where else it can be found, and
how anyone can get into the creative mindset to bring out the inner
talents that are in all of us! |
