“Trimming” or “Trim” is slightly adjusting the control surfaces using the trim tabs on your radio so that the plane flies straight and level at 50% throttle without manual adjustments from the pilot.

Trim as much as you can manually by making your control rod longer or shorter (adjust the clevis). We like to start off with our control surfaces as straight and level as possible.

When we fly a model for the 1st time we notice it wants to move by itself away from straight flight. Trimming allows us to adjust the control surfaces slightly so the plane only wants to go straight.

When you fly the plane start by trimming the pitch (elevator), then roll (aileron), then yaw (rudders). Then land the plane and check the controls. Sometimes you need to re-adjust the clevises.

Dual rates are controlled by switches on your radio. They can give you “stunt mode” and “calm mode”. Look up dual rates in your radio manual to learn how to setup dual rates on your radio.

Exponential is programed inside your radio as well. This allows you to have softer throws on the inside of the control movements. This is helpful to make the plane fly smoother.

"I recently saw a neighbor flying an RC plane, all my days I have wanted to fly a "remote control airplane". It looks so easy when you see it done, however you don't see it done very often! He told me about your web site, I looked into it. I bought the ultimate course and started building right away. I also took the time to listen to your audio explanations, WOW! I sat there all Saturday evening with my headset on as the family watched TV. I came away with this, after listening to your audio education "I will be in no hurry to attempt to launch my first failure."

So far from ready, my wife sees my interest and we go to a local hobby shop "Big Boy Toy's" I was going in for the 3mm Carbon Rods as your plans require, and she is just going along. She asked me how long would it take to be able to fly the F18 scratch build that I retrieved from your plans, I said I cant fly it until I get a simulator, "Dave" made it very clear, "good luck guy! Buy a simulator", I bought the DX5E Spectrum Phoenix Simulator. Not the Model you suggested, but it was the closest to the advise you gave that I could afford.

I am 41 years old and very mechanically inclined, I was looking for something that my 12 year old son and I could do together, this my friend is another world, and I love it! Thank you for the support, and and I intend to listen to your audio training many more times again!

I am still building the plane. and have found myself adding much attention to detail, I'm sure if this is a common thing, but I want her to be beautiful. I intend on sending you detailed progress as well as a video of the maiden flight, though it may be a little while though, I've got the circling down on the simulator as well as a couple of tricks but you still have to bring her back down to earth, that's where I'm lacking.

Thank you for bringing this dream of mine to life, and saving me the horror of the awful truth!, with all good things comes patients."
