Hi Stefan! Good questions. Canards work opposite of the elevator. So they move DOWN and this pulls the nose UP. And with the gyros, we are working on getting some more videos for that to help explain it better.

Dave

Yeah it is kind of hard to explain with text. Have you tried doing a Google search on it?

Default Thinking too much?

Dave must be very busy. Maybe I can help?

There is absolutely nothing complicated about control-canards. They are identical in function to all-moving elevators with one important difference: They have to rotate WITH the elevator stick control because they are IN-FRONT of the lifting wing. All-moving elevators rotate AGAINST the elevator stick control because they are BEHIND the lifting wing.

Check here under the heading "control-canard":
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canard_(aeronautics)

If you want to gyro-stabilize a control-canard, the gyro's reaction to unwanted elevation should always oppose it. Therefore, the gyro should tilt the canard back when then aeroplane is tilted forwards and vice-versa.

I sounds like you need to get past that initial thought-barrier. Stick at it, because once you've got it you'll wonder what all the fuss was about.

All the best,
Rob.

Hey thanks so much for jumping in Rob! Yes, very busy here for sure.

Stefan, you gave me and idea to cover canards in a future videos. I like and use them alot by come to think of it have never really done a good video on them. It might be awhile before I can get to it because of all my other responsibilities, but I think that would be a very helpful video for many guys!

And I did find this video on GYROS here. Might help some.
