Oh sweet! Yes, that is fun when the props EXPLODE and send shrapnel every which way. Looks like the damage is minimal. When mine blew it about severed the nose off.

The cuts are pretty deep on the side, but it all holds up still. Those 3 by props are very delicate, but I do love how they accelerate so fast. I haven't tried 6x4s on this so I'll give them a try next.

Glow wire
Yes, this was an impulse buy! I decided to throw it on tonight and give it a shot. Boy does it look awesome. The only problem is that I want more. And I want to put some where it will be fully submerged under water. I'll have to do some research and ask some questions before I do that though. Anyways, here's a night shot between batteries after an awesome landing.
If you thought flying at 7pm is nice, fly at 11pm. There was no noticeable wind. In fact, I would gander that the wind speed was an accurate absolute zero.
Perfect flying conditions to learn how to fly at night. The lights around the lake and the traffic made focusing hard on the eyes. But I kept on my toes and stayed within my bounderies. It's hard to judge the distance of the craft so I kept in WAY in bounds.
Landings were fun, as it was easy to tell when it would touch. Just look at the reflection and it'll land when they meet. Totally awesome. I hope to have a video within the week. Although I'm not sure what it would show, if anything.

F150 is stuck in 75ft tall tree! And it's not going to come out anytime soon. I was flying a good ways over a tree and a gust of wind caused it to bank, I attempted to correct it with my normal amount of input but it was not enough, by the time I put full aileron on, it was too late. The aircraft lost altitude and dove right into the top of the tree. I'm assuming it was a gust of wind but could have been a malfunction but I don't think so.
It's literally at the very top. There are birds diving at it since they nest up there.
It's still there, not sure how long it will take for the lipo to drain completely down. I'll call a tree service to see if they can get it down for me. Considering I have a decent amount of electronics in it, I'd pay a reasonable penny to get it back.
Futaba receiver - $130
Servos - $45
Motors + ESC - $70
Battery - $45
Glowwire - $35
So roughly $325. I don't care about the plane I want the electronics! I may just consider it a complete loss. Oh well, my first crash. :^D

Yep, I've already ordered all the parts to build another one again. Grats to Grayson Hobby where I buy my batteries and motors. Grats to a random Ebayer whw I got my servos from. And Grats Tower Hobbies where I got my receiver.
I'm not letting this set me back. There were a few things I did not like about my build so I plan on improving it on the second build.

Twin Cities Tree Service here where I live is going to get it down for me. Fairly cheap too I might add. Looks like I'll have a lot of spare parts now for some of my upcoming projects.

A couple Ideas
Just a thought on the Spontoon- does anyone have any thoughts on using a Hotel key card to reinforce that area? When heated they are flexible and could be formed somewhat around the area.

My local grocery store has a whole rack full of various gift cards. They're worthless until activated, same size and material as your standard credit card, and are both free and a lot easier to get tham a key card. Used them for control horns, but ought to work on your spontoons. P
