Hey Scott,
I just ordered myself a portable LiIon powered hotglue gun. It is built by a german manufacturer called "Steinel" and the product name is NEO3.. see here (sorry, all in german) - just in case someone is interessed in it. By the way: thanks again for your help with the forum signup... seems to work right nowPosted January 25th, 2010 at 11:26 PM by elk

Scott, instead of going thru all that trouble, I get great glue guns from AC moore , or even the dollar tree dollar store , AND what you can do is splice an old cigarette lighter with the wire attached and sodder it to an extra glue guns positive and negative wires then alittle electrical tape to clean it up , THEN when a crash comes just goto the car turn on the accessory with the key in the ignition and plug in the car lighter adapter attached to the glue gun wires , and walla , glue away , the battery amps should be plenty to heat up that glue , whatya think ?Posted January 29th, 2010 at 05:08 PM by rfinaldi

hey scott that is great! you should be hanging out near the pattent office for some of your awesome ideas.
i myself, am working on a protable charger/universal power supply/tool box on wheels (like luggage with collapsable handle) by the time it is done...i should be able to charge 2 3s batteries, 2 4-6s batteries, run a glue gun and various other accessories. it is a bit heavier, running off a deep cycle marine battery, but i can constantly draw from it for almost 2 days. let me know if you want some drawings/wiring diagrams.Posted April 6th, 2010 at 12:11 PM by shaneeeeak
